Leeda brand, Wychwood, will be launching two new ranges of rods at this year’s iceTackle trade-only show.

UK game fishing brand, Wychwood, will be revealing a host of new products at iceTackle, Leeda’s annual trade-only tackle show in March.

The first of its new rod ranges is the Truefly T2, the brand’s most accessible mid-level range which sees prices starting at £89.99, but is said to offer better performance and specification.

Finished in bottle green, each T2 rod is built around a ‘super-slim’, light blank which features high-grade F4 cork with composite detailing across both the full wells fighting butt and half wells options.

Wychwood says that unlike other modern rods, the T2 range offers a smooth, middle-to-tip action that is far less aggressive and – as such – better suited to today’s angler and a wider range of fishing techniques.

The range features durable, lined stripper guides at the butt, combined with high-lift hard chrome guides through to the tip to give ‘awesome’ line speed during casting and keep the overall weight down. There is also a carbon reel seat and section alignment markers.

The second new range addition is the RS fly rods – Wychwood’s flagship series designed to offer ultimate performance with no compromise.

“The RS range is simply the best Wychwood has ever produced and been designed specifically for anglers who want a little bit more power and performance,” says the company.

All rods in the range feature a mid-fast action to ensure distance casting without losing accuracy. Unlike many stiffer-action rods on the market, the RS features a blank that has the all important ‘feel’ needed for playing fish on all line types and leader strengths.

“Across the range the whole blank comes into play with the extra power down low in the butt section, allowing the angler to subdue the catch without the fear of putting too much strain on light tippets,” explains Wychwood.

The RS range is finished in a matt grey with high-gloss black whippings and silver details to give them a ‘luxury, high-end look and feel’. The high-modulus Toray blank is complemented with Pac Bay stripper guides and light, high-lift snake guides through to the tip, finished with a cork handle.

“For under £200, the RS range is destined to set the new standard for this price range,” predicts Wychwood.

Both ranges come with carbon carry tubes, with the RS finished in grey gloss with silver detailing.

All these new products and more can be seen at iceTackle which takes place at Arena: MK, Milton Keynes, England from February 23 to 25. To register, and for more details, visit
