World Fishing Tackle Managing Director, Christian Dibisch: Announced another distribution deal his ever-popular Gliss line.

World Fishing Tackle (WFT) has confirmed a new deal that will see its popular Gliss fishing line sold throughout South East Asia.

Distribution is being handled by the Singapore-based Hong Guan Tackle company, manufacturer of the well known Pioneer tackle brand.

The agreement means Gliss KG will be available in countries including Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. Hong Guan will also present the line at the big Thailand Fishing Tackle Trade and Manufacturers Show in April.

A clearly delighted WFT Managing Director, Christian Dibisch, told Angling International that the deal was a major step forward for his German company and the Gliss brand.

“The tackle market in these countries is booming and we are happy to have such a strong partner there,” he said. “The fishing styles are derived from Japanese lure fishing and could not be any better for Gliss.

“Its low diameter-to-strength ratio makes long, accurate casting easy and its minimal elongation is excellent for hook setting. It is perfect for these kind of applications.”

Hong Guan’s Managing Director, Seng Shoy, said that his company is already preparing samples for marketing purposes in preparation for introducing the brand into the respective markets.

WFT is also on the point of announcing further deals in the US, where Gliss’s distribution is handled by Ardent Tackle in St Louis, Missouri. The line is already in Academy Sports and Outdoor, which has 200 stores throughout the South and Mid West.

Now Dibisch has revealed that an opening order has been received from another ‘big box’ fishing retailer and verbal agreement has also been reached with a third household name.

“We are also getting repeat orders from a lot of other accounts set up earlier this year. We are beyond the point of failing in the US. It is just a matter of how well we can succeed there,” added Dibisch.

In addition, the ultra-fine monofilament is far exceeding sales expectations in Australia and New Zealand, where it is distributed by Jarvis Walker.

The groundbreaking line has been a phenomenon since being launched last year, triggering a frenzy of enquiries and orders from all over the world, creating new customers and opening up new territories.
