Big hit on screen: the new Castalia Bombshell Turtle.

A video loop of the Castalia Bombshell Turtle lure is boosting sales in stores across the United States, says its maker. The Bombshell Turtle attracted much attention on Castalia’s booth at ICAST in July. Now that it has hit the shelves of small retailers in the States, the accompanying video of a bass finding the lure irresistible is, says Castalia, ‘basically selling the lure’ all by itself.

Castalia is confident of big sales across North America in 2012 once the Bombshell Turtle reaches larger retailers at the beginning of January. It is already selling in Australia and Canada with more territories planned to be added.

Pam Richards, Castalia’s Vice President of Marketing/Operations, says: “The Bombshell Turtle provided extremely positive reaction and heavy traffic to our booth during the 2011 ICAST. Even other manufacturers were coming to our booth to view the video. Sales have been good to date but we are always looking for more dealers.”

The Castalia Bombshell Turtle is a patented 3-inch soft plastic lure which has been extensively field-tested for more than three years. It has been found to be successful year-round for catching inshore saltwater species such as red fish, snook, trout and even mahi mahi. But where it really comes alive is when being fished for largemouth bass.

“Aggression by largemouth bass towards juvenile turtles has been well documented in Florida for more than 35 years,” explains Pam Richards. “Turtles raid fish beds and eat their eggs during the bedding season. Bass will attack juvenile turtles aggressively. They also eat them as a source of protein year-round.”

Little wonder that the Bombshell Turtle is so attractive to its key target species. Or that this video is proving such a hit with anglers.

“Our YouTube hits continue to escalate,” says Pam Richards. “We offer a looped video DVD to our retailers for in-store promotion and that basically sells the lure for them.”
