Portuguese fishing brand Vega says that the appointment of the current world black bass fishing champion is a statement of its intention to strengthen its presence in international markets.
The company has signed up Joaquim Moio to help it develop its extensive range of black bass fishing products. “We aim to provide anglers access to high quality, innovative tackle that fits their needs.” it says.
“The goal of this collaboration is to help Vega grow abroad through the prestige that the world champion enjoys. Joaquim’s track record as a competitor, the status he has in other countries, including neighbouring Spain, and the way he brilliantly won the title in Mexico has made him a household name in his sector of the sport,” adds Vega.
As part of the agreement Vega will sponsor Moio’s tournament career at both national and international level.
Vega has been a market leader in Portugal for nearly 30 years and currently exports to 13 other countries, including Spain, Brazil, Lithuania, Latvia, Greece and Estonia. It is part of the Mundinautica group that distributes the Sert group’s portfolio of products in Portugal, including Garbolino, Sunset and Sakura.
Vega’s Communications Consultant, Dinis Ermida, told Angling International that despite the difficulties experienced by the Portuguese economy in the last few years, the company has ‘weathered the storm’ and is optimistic about the prospects for 2015.
“We are on the way to our 30th anniversary as a company and a brand and enjoy very strong connections with tackle shops that go beyond commercial relationships. Vega is renowned in Portugal for its after sales technical support.
“Additionally, in recent years, we have been able to introduce high quality products at reasonable prices, making the sport accessible to everyone.”
