Kevin VanDam, bass angling’s most successful tournament angler, has worked with Lew’s to produce the KVD Series.

Lew’s Fishing has linked up with bass fishing’s most successful tournament angler, Kevin VanDam, to produce a series of signature fishing rods.

VanDam, who includes four Bassmaster Classic wins in his formidable career, has worked with the South Carolina company on the development of a 23-rod KVD Series.

Announced during ICAST 2020 Online week, the line-up will be available in early Autumn/Fall this year and will retail at a competitive $99.99.

“The team at Lew’s told me to let them know what I wanted,” said VanDam. “I have always loved fast and extra-fast action rods and Lew’s brought exactly the feel I wanted into each model. The rods do exactly what I need them to.”

The collection comprises 10 casting models for single hook techniques, seven spinning models for finesse tactics through to Great Lakes smallmouth techniques and six composite casting models for crankbaits and other moving baits.

Each rod has a new labeling system showing model, length and power so anglers can easily select the right one for each situation.

The rods are built on raw graphite blanks. They are fitted with split grip EVA handles, new reel seats with increased blank contact and stainless steel guides with aluminium oxide inserts. Spinning models have a rear locking reel seat.

VanDam said that producing a high-quality product at an affordable price was the priority. “I really wanted to be able to produce a rod that would retail for around $100, but felt and performed like a high-end rod.

“Everyone on the project was committed to that goal and the results speak for themselves. I can’t wait to see the reaction from anglers when they pick them up.”

• That KVD record: four Bassmaster Classic titles; seven BASS Angler of the Year titles; an FLW Angler of the Year title; three MLF Cup wins; 25 BASS wins in total; 121 top ten finishes; 2018 Bass Fishing Hall of Fame inductee; winnings in excess of $6 million.
