A UK-based line recycling scheme has received a boost in the form of sponsorship backing from a major long-established independent tackle wholesaler.
The Anglers National Line Recycling Scheme (ANLRS) has received support from WSB Tackle, which supplies a wide range of sea, coarse and game gear to outlets around the country.
Mario Massimino, General Manager at WSB Tackle, said: “We are extremely proud to be a corporate sponsor of ANLRS. Stopping fishing line and plastic ending up in landfill and turning it into something useful must be the way forward. We are handing out recycling bins to our tackle shops, fisheries and commercial charter skippers. The response we are getting from customers has been fantastic with a lot of requests to get on board.”
Viv Shears, Co-founder of ANLRS added: “The team at WSB has been very keen to support what we are doing and with its help more tackle shops and anglers will get involved. As a volunteer-led, non-profit group, the support of the tackle industry is essential to help us encourage all fishermen to start recycling rather than binning their lines,
“Let’s hope that WSB Tackle is one of many to step forward and support the scheme in the coming months.”
As well as its donation, WSB has purchased a number of bins that it will be offering free of charge to its customers. It has also agreed to be a collection point for its local tackle shops to drop off their line and to arrange for it to be sent off for recycling.
