Tycoon Tackle’s new trout rod has been designed for use on mountain streams.

Tycoon Tackle has introduced a new trout rod that has been specially designed for use on mountain streams where foliage and trees pose a threat to long rods and long backcasts.

The Waynesboro, Virginia-based company says that the Mountain King blends the feel of the best bamboo tapers with the precision of today’s manufacturing and e-glass. The action is a medium fast and it has the ability to cast in close, with precision while still reaching 50ft.

The choice of fibreglass instead of graphite allows the company to separate line speed and accuracy from reserve strength, meaning that it will give you the fine presentation of a light rod with the fish-fighting power normally associated with longer, heavier models.

Says the company: “This fine balance gives you a fishing rod that is equally suited for the bamboo or fibreglass aficionado, but still responds to the cast of an angler who has come to appreciate the power of graphite.”

Each blank has hand-fitted internal spigot ferrules. It is four weight, three piece and measure 6ft 9ins.

Tycoon adds that each rod is made to order using only the finest components that include snake-style guides. The model features a reverse-half Wells grip with distinctive stacked flamed bamboo reel seat and is coated with an ultra-violet, ray protected finish.

Each rod comes with a custom rod sock, aluminium travel tube and the Tycoon Tackle warranty.
