Two Cabela’s stores have been closed in the US and amalgamated with neighbouring Bass Pro Shops retail outlets.
A spokesman for Bass Pro Shops described the latest move as an opportunity to bring the brands together and better serve customers with a greater assortment of product, better value and local expertise in a single location. Bass Pro Shops bought its outdoor sporting goods rival, Cabela’s, for an estimated $5.5 billion in July 2017.
The development is the latest move in the ongoing transition of Bass Pro Shops’ acquisition and involves Cabela’s stores at Fort Oglethorpe, on the Georgia-Tennessee border, and Bristol, Virginia. Both locations were within a few miles of a Bass Pro Shops’ outlet.
Employees at both Cabela’s outlets have an oppportunity to transfer to the new location.
The Bass Pro Shops in those areas are currently being updated with expanded product offerings from Cabela’s and fitted with new exterior and interior signage that celebrates Cabela’s, Bass Pro Shops and its Tracker bass boat brands.
