Industry stalwart, Wes Campbell, President of the US-based TTI-Blakemore Fishing Group, has died from natural causes aged 65.
“Our industry has lost an icon and leader,” said Ron Stallings, Director of Sales and Marketing for TTI-Blakemore.
Born in Wiesbaden, Germany, in 1954, Campbell attended Troy State University on a golf scholarship and earned a business degree in 1976.
His father, John Campbell, founded the Tru-Turn hook company in Wetumpka, Alabama, in 1960. Wes followed him into the business and led the acquisition of the TTI-Blakemore companies that included Road Runner, Reel Magic, Daiichi and Mr. Crappie during a career that lasted 45 years.
Devoutly religious, he was awarded the Christ for King medal by the Catholic Church for his dedication to the church and the community.
He died on December 28 and is survived by his wife, Kerry, daughter, Taira, son, Ryon and his brothers, Steve and Johnny.
