South West-based WSB has blamed market conditions and exchange rates for its closure.

Market conditions and poor exchange rates have forced the closure of a long-established UK wholesaler and supplier.

WSB Tackle, based in Redruth, Cornwall, will cease trading at the end of January and is selling its inventory at heavily discounted prices.

The company was founded in 1972 and originally supplied baits in the South West under the name Western Sea Baits. As the company developed its tackle range, the name was changed to WSB Tackle and the customer base extended beyond the UK into Europe.

“Winding up the business is very sad, but there have been huge changes in the industry since we purchased it 15 years ago,” said owner, Marcus Holloway. “We would like to thank all our customers for their support.”

WSB’s General Manager, Mario Massimino, has been with the company for 27 years.
