Japanese hard lure brand IMA has appointed Tacklewave as its distributor for England, Scotland and Wales.
Tacklewave, based in Weymouth, Dorset, already imports fresh and saltwater rods, plus other accessories, from another Japanese company, Major Craft.
The company was founded in 2010 by Mike Fulmer, an angler with more than 40 years’ experience in both salt and freshwater fishing in the UK and abroad.
“Saltwater bass fishing has been growing in Britain for the last decade so we feel this is a good sector to be in,” said Fulmer. “Some of the best-known IMA lures include the Sasuke, Hound Glide, Komomo and Salt Skimmer models.
“IMA lures sit perfectly with us because Major Craft don’t currently produce a hard plastic sea bass lure, so there is no conflict. Taken as a range, IMA is arguably the best Japanese sea bass lure brand. The build, balance, performance and casting are outstanding.
“Now we really want to build on the range by bringing in other IMA lures. We built some custom sea bass rods specifically designed for the UK with Major Craft in 2018 and fully intend to continue importing and developing bespoke models from both brands throughout the year.”
Tacklewave already holds IMA stock and is expecting its third delivery at the end of this month. Pre-ordering is essential because IMA do a limited number of runs on set dates. “I am waiting for a manufacturing schedule so that I can plan for the year ahead,” added Fulmer.
IMA, whose name originates from the word ‘imagination’, was founded in 1988. It sells products all over the world.
