US-based Riot Baits has introduced The Relic, described as an ‘inter-fusion’ of traditional craw/creature bait with an integrated spider grub hub.
The company says that the unique combination of these elements has resulted in a bait that entices violent strikes from bass even on the most difficult fishing days.
“We are really excited about The Relic,” says Matt Stark, the owner of Relic Baits. “We have caught some giants on it – flipping it in 36-degree and 90-degree waters. There are not many soft plastic baits that are effective over such a broad range of temperatures.”
The Relic measures just 3.25”, allowing its diminutive body to fit perfectly on a 3/0 flipping hook. Its multi-pronged and articulated claws provide a constant churning action regardless of whether it is rigged on a 1/4oz jighead or behind a 3/4oz punch weight.
Its claws feature Riot’s proprietary Alternating Ridge Design (ARD) coupled with The Relic’s inner claw flange. The resulting action is said to be ‘unparalleled’ by any bait in its class. The spider grub hub has been integrated into the moulding processes to create the consistency of one-piece construction. These squid-like tentacles act much like a jig skirt, flowering open and gently compressing, creating a lifelike breathing motion and alluring action.
They are available in six colours at $4.77 per seven pack.
