Strike King bass baits as inventive as ever

Strike King has a number of new bass baits out right now and, as we have come to expect from the inventive US brand, the lures include a number of interesting shapes and features.
The Rage Swimmer is a ribbed swimbait that seemingly resembles others in the market. But closer examination reveals that the ribs have a bevel on the rear edge. This, says the manufacturer, provides extra stability and therefore a different action, which excels at slower retrieve rates.
The Rage Swimmer’s features lend themselves to a wide range of uses and tactics. The bait can be eased slowly over deep structure on a jighead or ‘burned’ over submerged grass as a spinnerbait trailer.
The thinned-down tail delivers a superior action at all speeds, assures Strike King. The bait comes in 10 colours and in 3.75in and 4.75in sizes.
Another eye-catching product among the new introductions is the KVD Popping Perch, designed by top-water expert Todd Castledaine, with input from tournament bass fishing’s most successful angler Kevin Van Dam.
The pair spent over a year developing the popping/walking top-water lure, which is sealed to prevent waterlogging but has a small breather hole on top of the body which allows it to collapse, a feature that improves hook-up rates.
The Popping Perch has a flat tail that enables it to walk seductively over the water, says Strike King. It is armed with a custom 4/0 hook and is available in a wide range of colours, including Black Shadow, Green Pumpkin, Northern Bluegill, Shad Spawn and Yellow Perch.
