Smith Optics’ commitment to the recreational fishing market is evident through its long-standing support of the ICAST trade show. So it’s no surprise that the Idaho company timed the launch of a new fishing-specific frame for next week’s big ICAST/IFTD event in Orlando.
The new Dockside is a large-fitting frame designed to provide superior coverage from sun reflection on and off the water. Made in Italy, the eight-base wrap design eliminates side glare while retaining a wide field of view.
The frames are fitted with Smith Optics’ award-winning ChromaPop lenses that are engineered to optimise colour and increase visual clarity. The result, says the manufacturer, is increased depth and detail, plus reduced eye fatigue.
The premium Trivex material used in the making of ChromPop lenses combines the durability and lightweight properties of polycarbonate with the optical clarity of glass. ChromoPop is available in six lens tints, including new Polar Blue Mirror and Polar Bronze Mirror.
The Bronze Mirror lens is recommended for medium to bright light conditions and, says the product’s developers, provides almost 3D like visuals. The Blue Mirror lens is for the serious offshore angler seeking to minimise glare in bright light conditions and maximise fish spotting opportunities.
All ChromoPop lenses provide total protection from UVA/B/C rays, eliminate back-glare and repel water, dirt and grease.
