Single-handed coupling problem solved

The iBall Wireless Trailer Hitch Camera from Outdoors Insight is said to be able to get you onto the water quicker and with less stress.

What if connecting the coupler for towing a trailer was as easy as shifting into reverse? That’s the question that designers at Outdoors Insight asked themselves – and then came up with an answer that will avoid those bent rear bumpers, broken brake lights and damaged licence plates.

The solution to single-handed hitching comes in the form of the iBall Wireless Trailer Hitch Camera. The new device is portable, convenient, affordable and, most importantly, means you don’t have to get out of the car, assures the US manufacturer.

The two-part iBall system employs a small wireless camera—powered by a rechargeable Lithium Ion battery—and a compact color LCD that plugs into the vehicle’s power port (or cigarette lighter).

The camera features an industrial strength magnet that mounts to nearly any metallic surface on or near the bumper, tailgate, or hitch. The gimbal-mounted camera can also be pivoted in any direction and is even submersible—in case you back a little too far down the boat ramp. It offers a 120-degree field of view for optimal visibility.

From inside the vehicle you can view the trailer’s hitch as it approaches the ball and then make the connection — the first time, every time, says Outdoors Insight. The usually aggravating process now takes seconds rather than minutes.

While the iBall Wireless Trailer Hitch Camera can get you on the water faster and with less stress, the US manufacturer points out that it can be used with any trailer, whether it’s a boat, camper, ice fishing house or horse trailer that’s in need of a tow.

The iBall works for other trailering applications, too, such as monitoring an RV, backing into a cramped garage or launching at a busy boat ramp. Simply connect the camera to the back of the boat, camper or anywhere else it’s needed.

Transmitting on a 5.8-GHz frequency, the iBall Camera works without interference from other wireless devices. With a transmission distance of up to 100 feet, it is designed to be versatile, durable and weather resistant. The rechargeable Lithium Ion battery includes a USB charging cable.
