Shimano’s SKIXX musky rods will debut at the Chicagoland Fishing Expo in Schaumburg, Illinois, on January 23 – 26, when musky expert ,Jim Saric, will explain the benefits of the new range.
The seven-rod series of casting models uses a combination of Spiral X and Hi-Power blank construction technology, first proven in Shimano’s saltwater rods.
The powerful, but lightweight structure reduces rod twist to increase casting distance with less effort and eliminates lateral vibration during the cast to improve accuracy, says Shimano Americas.
The 8ft heavy and extra power models are one piece, while the 8ft 6in heavy and extra heavy power, and 9ft medium heavy and extra heavy power rods feature a two-piece handle. The longest rod, a 9ft 6in version, has a telescopic handle.
“The added bonus with the longer rods is they are easier to transport and store,” says Saric, who played a key role in developing the new rods and will be in the Shimano booth at various times during the Chicagoland show.
All the SKIXX rods feature Fuji Alconite guides and premium cork fore and rear grips. With the exception of the 9ft 6in version, which carries a Fuji reel seat, the rods are fitted with Shimano’s C14+ reel seats.
