Rapala VMC Corporation and Shimano have posted 2015 net sales increases.

Two of the world biggest fishing tackle manufacturers have reported increased sales in 2015.

Japanese giant Shimano saw its net sales of angling products and bicycle components rise by 13.7% to 378.6 billion yen ($3.14 billion), while lure maker Rapala VMC Corporation delivered a more modest 2% increase with sales of €278.2 million (2014: €273.2 million).

Shimano’s fishing tackle sales for the year rose by 9.2% to 64.2 billion yen and its operating income increased 36.2% to 5.37 billion yen. Total overseas sales exceeded the previous years level following favourable fishing conditions in the US and Pan-Pacific region.

Despite posting a year-on-year net sales increase, the Rapala reported a 3% drop in the final quarter of 2015, posting €59.7 million compared to €61.5 million.
