The IFTD show – run alongside ICAST last week – has been described as a ‘fantastic’ event.

Ron Poelhailos, owner of the fast growing US fly reel brand, 3-TAND, told Angling International: “It was a fantastic event – we wish it could have gone on for a few more days.

“The vibe was really good and the team at the American Fly Fishing Trade Association (AFFTA) did a great job promoting the event and that was reflected in the strong attendance.

“I also sensed that the collaborative relationship between AFFTA and The Fly Fishing Show had something to do with the strong turn-out. Our booth was busy from the time the doors opened until the show closed.

“It was great seeing so many of our dealers and those who requested to become an authorised 3-TAND representative.”

Visitors to the booth were treated to their first glimpse of the company’s Stealth Black collection and the TX-80 – the first reel scheduled to be released in its TX-Series.

Poelhailos said: “The TX-Series is a hybrid of our light tackle TF-Series and our big game T-Series. We took the best of both and incorporated them into a range that we feel will fill another gap in the industry.

“It offers the ultra-light feel of the TF-Series, but with a larger arbor, more drag and some of the robust features of our T-Series.”

Poelhailos also gave visitors a sneak peak of several prototypes of another series of lightweight and big game reels 3-TAND is working on.

“IFTD is a perfect opportunity to share our concepts with the industry and listen to its feedback – there’s nothing more valuable than that when it comes to timing of design and manufacturing.”
