The owner of one of the largest suppliers of fishing tackle in New Zealand has delivered an upbeat message ahead of the announcement of its second quarter results at the end of this week.
The Briscoe Group, owner of the Rebel Sport brand, which has 40 stores across the country, will report an unexpected sales rebound since the end of the lockdown, which together with cost-saving measures implemented by the company as a result of COVID-19 have ‘positively’ impacted the business.
The group says that while it remains unlikely that it will achieve last year’s half-year sales and profit, it now expects the first half results to be closer to 2019 than indicated in its previous announcement.
Group Managing Director Rod Duke said: “Our primary focus has not altered from the onset of these challenging times – the health and wellbeing of our team and customers and the protection of existing jobs and income. These have been uppermost priorities for the Board and leadership team.
“I am extremely proud of how everyone continues to adapt to the ongoing testing demands currently facing our business.”
The Briscoe Group is set to provide details of its second quarter performance on Friday (July 31st).
