RBFF’s Piacenza named outstanding young leader

Rachel Piacenza, Marketing Director at the RBFF, has been named as one of the industry’s outstanding young leaders.

Rachel Piacenza, Marketing Director for the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation (RBFF), has been named in the Boating Industry magazine’s annual ‘40 under 40’ list of outstanding young leaders.

The high achievers are chosen from more than 200 nominations from all sectors of the marine industry, based on achievements to date and their potential for the future.

Piacenza caught her first fish at the age of two and began driving boats around her uncle’s northern Wisconsin fishing resort as a teenager. Armed with a degree in business marketing, her first post-college job was in the Fisheries Management Division of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.

“I was excited to take on the challenge of increasing angler participation in Wisconsin,” she says.

But Piacenza’s proudest achievement to date is launching the RBFF’s ‘Women Making Waves’ marketing campaign, an initiative that has identified that nearly 45% of new fishing participants are female, yet only 19% see themselves as represented in the sport.

“We saw an opportunity to grow fishing and boating nationally among this audience. The campaign engages influencers on a local level to be mentors for the next generation,” added Piacenza.
