Pure Fishing teams up with U.S. unions to promote angling

Pure Fishing, the world’s biggest manufacturer of tackle, has further endorsed its commitment to improve the future of angling and conservation across North America.

The owner of some of the most iconic brands on the planet, has linked up with The Union Sportsmen’s Alliance (USA) to work together on angler recruitment, retention and reactivation programmes and events. The partnership was confirmed by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in Washington D.C. last week which will last until 2020.

Both parties feel the partnership will help ensure a rich future for fishing in America. Pure Fishing produces more than 30,000 items of fishing tackle and a portfolio of star-studded brands, while through its strong volunteer workforce and support from its 17 affiliates and charter unions, the USA has completed nearly 100 volunteer projects and community outreach events since 2010.

John Doerr, Pure Fishing President and CEO, expressed great optimism about what can be accomplished with its experience and resources, combined with the USA’s skilled labour force of more than 225,000 union members.

“We are excited about our new partnership with the USA as it dovetails perfectly with existing Pure Fishing initiatives to protect and restore fishable waters and fish populations both today and in the future,” he said. “We look forward to partnering with the hardworking men and women of USA in their efforts to improve access to fisheries and provide education to ensure that current and future generations have the opportunity to enjoy the great sport of fishing.”

USA President, Richard L. Trumka, said: “Our dedicated union volunteers have already introduced thousands of families to the outdoors and we have the potential to reach many more. Partnerships with industry pacesetters, such as Pure Fishing, are exactly what it will take to build these programmes to a level that secures the future of angling and hunting in the United States.”

Scott Vance, USA’s CEO and Executive Director, added that he feels strongly that this pairing is primed to make a major impact on people’s lives. “We are very honoured to have Pure Fishing as a partner as we expand our angling recruitment and retention programmes nationwide,” he said.

“Its brands represent some of the best outdoor products in the world and its support will help us connect thousands of youths and their families to an outdoor pursuit that is healthy, fun and sustainable. This partnership will also help union members give back to their local communities in ways that enrich lives and natural resources for everyone.”
