Okuma SLX designed for the toughest sea action

Reel manufacturer, Okuma, says that the new SLX has been designed for use in the toughest sea fishing environments imaginable.

When reel maker Okuma decided to make the new SLX, its objective was simple – to create a reel for the toughest sea fishing imaginable.

The result, says the manufacturer, is a ‘power house’. The SLX comes fitted with stainless steel main gears, pinion gears and shafts and a durable, corrosion-resistant frame and side plates with stainless steel reinforcing side plate rings.

In addition, the stainless steel body armour on the 20-50 models reduces frame flex.

The spool is constructed in gold anodised, forged aluminium and the reel incorporates Okuma’s carbonite drag system with five stainless steel shielded ball bearings.

The SLX is also equipped with a proprietary anti-reverse (dual anti-reverse on sizes 10/15), and patented T-Bar handle with a comfort grip on all 10/15/20/30 models. Left hand wind and a high-speed 6.2:1 gear ratio are available on some models.

There are 11 models across four reel types – two high-speed open top frame reels, three standard single-speed lever drags, three two-speed lever drags and three level-wind reels.
