Okuma Cold Water 350 introduces a ‘better way’

A better way: Okuma says for decades round reels have dominated trolling for the likes of salmon, steelhead and muskie – until now.

Okuma makes a strong argument for low-profile reels with its Cold Water 350 Low-Profile Line Counter model. The reel seeks to marry the benefits of Okuma’s low-profile platform – such as ergonomics, full aluminium frame, 24lb of drag output and thumb bar spool release – with a precision line counter.

The result, says Okuma, is a reel that is equally suited to both big waters and smaller tributaries. Made in both right and left hand retrieve and with an optional handle for those who prefer twin paddles, the reel is nothing if not versatile.

Among the reel’s attributes are a multi-disc carbonite drag, oversized, brass XL drive and pinion gears, a ratcheting drag star for precision settings and a mechanical line counter function. Gear ratio is 5:4:1.

Says Okuma: “Low profile reels are more powerful, more comfortable and more efficient than comparable sized round reels. Yet for decades round reels have dominated salmon, steelhead, walleye, kokanee and pike/muskie trolling applications. We knew there had to be a better way.

“The Cold Water 350 Low-Profile Line Counter has a smarter, more useful design and works with all the most prominent techniques.”
