North Point Brands hires Vandergrift as Chief Marketing Officer

Peter Vandergrift, formerly with Simms Fishing Products and Costa Sunglasses, has joined North Point Brands as Chief Marketing Officer.

Peter Vandergrift, formerly with Simms Fishing Products and Costa Sunglasses, has joined North Point Brands as Chief Marketing Officer of both Cheeky Fishing and Wingo Outdoors. 

Vandergrift’s long career in the industry began as a 19-year-old guide in Alaska. He continued as a guide and outfitter in Montana and northern Wyoming before spending five years at Simms.

During his seven-year spell as Freshwater Community Manager at Costa, he was involved in marketing, grassroots events, content development and distribution and conservation.

“Peter’s leadership in the fly fishing industry, dedication to conservation and innovative approach to community brand building will be welcome as Cheeky Fishing and Wingo Outdoors scale to the next level,” said Ted Upton, CEO of North Point Brands.

At Costa, Vandergrift was instrumental in establishing the Kick Plastic movement. Commenting on his departure, Costa’s Amanda Sabin said: “Although we are sad to see Peter go, we are proud of the work he has done and are excited for his new opportunity. He will always be part of the Costa Tribe.”

Vandergrift said: “I hope to take what I have learned from two world-class companies in Simms and Costa and develop something truly special with these innovative brands.”
