New-look ANSPO Show is gateway to Germany, says BVA

A new-look ANSPO is targeting international companies looking to enter the German fishing market.

International brands targeting the German market should head for the new-look ANSPO show in September. So says Jan Willenbruch, who has overseen major changes to the show since being named President of Germany’s angling trade body, the BVA, last year.

The show will no longer combine a trade event with a consumer event; instead it will be B2B-only, giving it a much needed identity as the number one meeting place for the German trade at the traditional start of the season.

The show will continue to be held in Kassel, which has always been popular for its central location. To maximise the attendance of visiting retailers, Willenbruch says the BVA will invest in pre-publicity in the major German magazines, direct mailing to retailers, offer free parking and bring back the popular evening event after an absence of ten years.

Adds Willenbruch: “We want ANSPO to mark the start of the German season within the angling trade. The timing and the venue have always been perfect but we feel the change to a trade-only show gives retailers a clear reason to attend.

“They can come to view new products and make buying decisions for the year ahead. We will be making that clear in the advanced publicity.”

Willenbruch adds that this year’s ANSPO represents a golden opportunity for international brands looking to break into the German market. “It will be the natural meeting place for the German trade and we are expecting 2,000 trade visitors through the doors in September,” he says.

“The German market should be attractive to international brands. It’s big, it covers all sectors and, like any other market, retailers like to see new products. With retailers in the mood to buy, it makes sense to use ANSPO as your gateway to Germany.”

Willenbruch adds that international brands specialising in the carp, predator, sea and trout fishing sectors will be especially well received by retailers at the show. “These are strong markets here in Germany.”

The 2014 ANSPO show will be held in Kassel between 12th and 14th September. For more details visit, mail to or simply contact Sabrina Preuss at tel: +49-561-5855481 or fax: +49-561-5855482
