The Masterline Walker distribution company in the UK closed down today after 50 years.
The company’s board broke the news in a brief announcement today, explaining that Masterline is developing a new distribution system in the UK to ‘meet the needs of these changing times’.
“We’ve made the difficult decision to close the Masterline distribution centre in Tewkesbury,” says the statement. “Retail is changing at an unprecedented speed and with it come big challenges and opportunities. Further announcements will be made at a later date.
“Thank you to all our customers for their past business and loyal support over many years. We wish you all the best for your continued success.”
The company first came into being as a manufacturer in 1970 as Anglers Masterline. It became Ryobi Masterline from 1982 until 1998, before passing into Cortland ownership until 2008, when it was acquired by Australian business, Jarvis Walker.
The closure of Masterline Walker is effective as of today.
