When its comes to catching monster cod the Big Bob jigs from Magic Minnow take some beating.

The lure was introduced last year and soon became a favourite for specialist sea anglers targeting some of the biggest cod in the world. And during the season it also proved its worth fishing for halibut.

This year three new colours for Big Bob have been introduced on the eve of the skrei (cod) season. These are the Lively Clupea, Lively Pollac and Lively Melano.

All are said to be realistic, fish-like colours that have been designed to work on days when the monsters are proving tricky to catch.

Every year during late winter and early spring the skrei – big pelagic cod from the Barents Sea – gather close to the coastline of northern Norway to eat and spawn. Kinetic Fishing says: “The amount of fish is unbelievable and the biggest cod here are among the largest found anywhere in the world.

“Big Bob is designed to play with these big boys as well as big halibut.”

They are available in two sizes, 480gr and 30cm or 730gr and 40cm.
