Shasta Tackle Company, the Californian manufacturer of custom trout, kokanee and salmon lures, has been acquired by Mack’s Lure Inc.
Mack’s owner and President, Bob Schmidt, said the move was ‘monumental’ for his company, increasing its share in several markets, and kokanee in particular.
Shasta Tackle will be operated, manufactured and distributed as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mack’s Lures. Shasta founder, Gary Miralles, will remain in the business and Shasta products will retain their established product names.
“This will also allow Mack’s Lure to grow more rapidly and engage with an even larger base of anglers,” said Schmidt. “It is an exciting move for both companies and their customers. “
Gary Miralles said it had become increasingly apparent that his company needed a strong, well-established strategic partner. “This partnership will give me more time for product development and the freedom to focus more on the marketing and promotions side of the business,” he explained.
“The merger will help launch Shasta into a new level of growth, giving it the foundation to expand and grow in existing markets as well as enter new ones.”
Shasta Tackle was founded 28 years ago. Its products include the Cripplure, Hum Dinger and Sling Blade. Mack’s, located in Wenatchee, Washington, is best known for its Wedding Ring and Smile Blade lures.
