A wicked ‘bad boy’ is set to hit the North Sea in search of giant cod.

Every year during late winter and early spring the so-called ‘ Skrei’ – big pelagic cod from the Barents Sea – gather close to the coastline of northern Norway. Some of the specimens are among the biggest cod found anywhere in the world.

The Big Bob jig has been designed to play with these big boys as well as the largest halibut around.

Big Bob has been designed by Denmark-based manufacturer, Kinetic Fishing, with the help of guides from North Sea Angling. Using all kinds of jigs last season they caught 20 cod in excess of 30 kilos – and that experience  has been critical in the development of Big Bob..

Big Bob comes in two sizes – 470g/30cm and 730g/40cm and five different colours: Lively Gadus, Rose Fish, Fancy Cola Cacao, Days of Thunder and Blue Glamour.

The jigs are said to have a great swimming action and come with a 100lb+ Gozen PE braid stinger rig included.

The 470g version has an integrated single hook plus one No3 heavy duty stinger rig treble, while the 730kg has two No3 heavy duty stinger rig trebles.
