There have been two key personnel changes at Simms Fishing Products.
Coming in is Strick Walker, who has been appointed Chief Marketing Officer, while going the other way is Rich Hohne, who is leaving the Bozeman, Montana, company after more than ten years.
Beginning in early 2020, Walker will lead all marketing initiatives for the manufacturer of waders, footwear and technical apparel.
His previous role was as Chief Marketing Officer at Merrell, and before that he was Global Marketing Director for Patagonia. He also spent six years in global marketing at Converse and has experience on the agency side at design/ad shops like IDEO and Y&R.
“Strick will bring valuable experience in the outdoor and the public sectors,” said Simms CEO Casey Sheahan. “We are confident he will deliver a powerful brand strategy, meaningful consumer insights and savvy product marketing across all channels to broaden awareness and excitement around the Simms brand.”
Rich Hohne, who held a variety of marketing positions at Simms, is joining Oboz Footwear, also located in Bozeman, as its Director of Marketing.
“Oboz is another of those amazing Bozeman brands that conjures deep emotion from its user base,” said Hohne. “It reminds me a lot of where Simms was years ago and I look forward to elevating the brand and the company to being the leader in the footwear market.”
Hohne’s most recent position at Simms was Senior Director, Marketing and Brand Management, where he was responsible for all marketing and brand strategies.
“Rich has a deep understanding of passion-driven, technical brands and his expertise will be instrumental as we move into our next phase of growth,” said Amy Beck, President of Oboz Footwear.
