Innovations give ICAST visitors an edge, says Savage Gear

In the traditional world of US bass fishing, Danish brand Savage Gear has in a short space of time demonstrated an innovative product range that is challenging the norm.

At ICAST 2018 – shortly after its amicable split with its long-time distribution partner – the brand took to the floor in its own right to show off the products that have won awards across the world.

And while ICAST is crucial to the development of the Savage Gear brand in the US, the Vice President of Savage Gear Americas, Magnus Gunnarsson, believes the world’s largest fishing tackle trade show is equally important to the future of the business of dealers.

“ICAST is the biggest fishing window in the world and, unlike many trade shows across the globe, is growing. It is the place to be seen and the place where the headline launches are made.

“You have to be at the forefront of trends and industry development or you get left behind,” he told Angling International. “That is key to us and forward-thinking dealers.”

Innovations like the Savage Gear 3DTopwater Bat, which won the hard lure category in the ICAST 2017 New Product Showcase, have demonstrated the brand’s out-of-the box thinking.

And it caught the imagination of dealers who took advantage of the sales opportunities it offered – especially among the younger generation. “Savage Gear has a reputation for being edgy and bold – that is why it appeals to an audience that the recreational fishing market should be targeting,” added Gunnarsson.

“Forward-thinking dealers embraced the innovation and enjoyed the benefits of stocking Savage Gear. You have to be at ICAST to see these latest products and be the first to take advantage of them,” he said.
