The Abel Automatics Zinger made a successful appearance at the IFTD Show in Orlando, Florida, when it was crowned Best Accessory in the New Product Awards.

It is used to hold nippers, clippers, de-barbing pliers, scissors and the like, within easy reach on a retractable spool. Made in the USA of stainless steel and 6061-T651 cold-finished aerospace grade aluminium, it is designed with the option to either attach to a vest using a screw mechanism or using the included ‘S’ carabineer to clip it to the D-ring on a vest or sling pack. The 36-inch retractable cord is manufactured from a Spectra/nylon blend with 40lb test strength, ensuring an angler’s ability to reach wherever it is needed without breakage – the number one complaint with plastic ‘bargain’ retractable spools.

The Abel retractor is available in four colours,  black, matte black, olive and platinum, and can be custom-engraved.

Measuring 2.5 inches and weighing an ounce, the spooling mechanism is housed in a machined stainless steel shell that is said to be ‘virtually’ impervious to the elements.

“To make sure of long-term reliability, we developed a tool for testing the dependability of the retracting cord and internal parts,” said Don R. Swanson, President of Abel Automatics. “Much the same way that prototype car doors are mechanically opened and slammed shut a thousand times to determine wear factors. Abel Zingers were stretched to the max 25,000 times.
