The team from Angling International will be making its annual pilgrimage to Orlando this July for the world’s largest sportfishing trade show.
The company’s co-owner, Rob Carter is an avid fan of ICAST. He said: “All jobs have their perks and without doubt, one of the great privileges of serving the angling trade with our magazine and websites is the chance to visit ICAST each year.
“It’s good for business, of course. How could it not be? Thanks to its sheer scale and the fact that the USA is the world’s biggest market, ICAST serves up more industry stories than all other trade shows put together.
“That’s ideal for a media business like ours. We have editors steeped in news gathering and I never see them so happy as when they are walking the aisles in Orlando. It feels like there’s a great story around every corner.
“And, absolutely, it works as a commercial venture for us too. My job is to secure advertising for the year ahead, which means meeting with current customers from the States and elsewhere while also finding new ones. ICAST is the only place I can do both successfully and cost-effectively.
“US brands that are seeking to expand exports quite rightly need to take on board a lot of information before making their investments. They need advice on market trends and they need to know all about the services we offer as a marketing partner. That takes time and a two-way conversation. ICAST is essential for making that happen. Phone calls and emails just don’t cut it.
“This year we’ll also be bringing with us information about our new and innovative digital platform, Tacklestream, designed to connect brands with retailers. We’re very excited to share that information.
“And when I say perks, I mean it. ICAST is an intense week, but it also makes the other 51 weeks worthwhile. The energy in the hall and, yes, in the hotel bars and restaurants in the evening, is genuinely uplifting.
“We have made good friends and we are always inspired by the new innovations we see each year. I always fly home to the UK with more optimism for the trade and for my own business. And that’s not something I can say for every trade show I visit.
“It’s why I’m pleased to say we bring more staff to ICAST than any other non-US trade media group. I want as many as my team as possible to experience ICAST and demonstrate our support for what is the best trade show on the calendar.”
