ICAST: Halco sends Roosta Popper on incredible journey

Halco’s Roosta Popper – travelling half-way across the globe to wow visitors to ICAST.

Australian fishing tackle specialist Halco Tackle Company is travelling half-way across the world to show its commitment to its US agents.

The Freemantle company is flying 12,477 miles – more than half the circumference of the globe – to attend its fifth ICAST in a row.

Marketing Manager Tim Carter told Angling International: “We can’t really travel any further away on the globe from our home base than to Orlando.

“Simply showing up in support of our US agents shows a level of commitment by Halco to the North American market.

“Over the last few years, ICAST has become increasingly important to Halco. It gives us the opportunity to touch base with our US dealers and rep network and also establish good business links into central and South America,”

The company will be launching its new Halco Roosta Poppa 160 which is the latest model of the well known and popular range.

It will also be revealing advanced proto-types of several other models in the late development stage and a host of new colour options.

Carter said that Halco was delighted to be returning to Orlando. “We love the venue. The fishing opportunities the area presents are a little like our northern local fisheries – albeit different species – and hence we have similar styles and techniques.

“To be able to talk fishing with dealers that really understand and appreciate this makes us feel right at home in Florida.

“Las Vegas has great facilities and attractions, but the heavier saltwater focus in Orlando and the opportunity to fish there is a big attraction to us.”

Halco is arriving in the US on the back of a very good year. Carter said: “We have seen growth in nearly all the markets we sell into. Obviously several areas, particularly in Western Europe, are finding life difficult at the moment and we hope they can get their national economies into better shape soon.

“Growth in other markets has helped us absorb the impact of these tough European trading conditions and we are fairly optimistic that given some great new products coming online we can look forward to another good year.”
