Marine clothing specialist, Gill North America, has introduced a versatile new range to bridge the gap between regular mid-layers and waterproof outer layers.

The US company’s i5 Crosswind jacket and salopettes are fully taped, waterproof, windproof and breathable and can be worn as part of a layering system or alone as an outer shell in less severe conditions.

Using its latest laminate fabric technology, Gill has provided a soft low-bulk mid-layer with thermal insulation that is compact, non-absorbent and quick drying. The Crosswind has high warmth to weight ratio and provides ‘phenomenal thermal protection’, says Gill.

Choosing a smooth internal lining instead of fleece to make it easy to get into, the Crosswind also incorporates stretch shoulder panels and waist to aid movement, a two-way zip and abrasion resistance at the seat and knees.

Both the jacket and the salopettes come in graphite in sizes XS to XXXL.
