The stage is set for the sixth Hobie World Kayak Fishing Championship. And some of the world’s top tackle brands are backing what has become kayak’s fishing’s most prestigious tournament.

Hobie Worlds 6 is presented by Rhino-Rack, with sponsors including Daiwa, Lowrance, Power-Pole, Yak Attack, RAM Mounts and Lurefans.

After travelling to Europe, China and Australia in recent years, the event is back in the US where it will be hosted at Lafourche Parish, Louisiana, from December 4th to 11th and fished in Gulf Coast waters in the Leeville area.

The best kayak anglers from around the globe will be flying into nearby Louis Armstrong Airport for an event that promises to be one of the best ever.

“I think we will see a record amount of fish for a Hobie Worlds,” predicts Hobie Cat Australasia Managing Director Steve Fields, the man who originated the event.

“The main target species will be redfish, but speckled trout and flounder will also be important to the result.”

Some 50 anglers from 25 countries will take part after emerging from qualifiers held throughout the year. All competitors will fish from the official tournament boat, the Hobie Mirage Pro Angler 14.

“Competitors can expect great music, great food and great fishing,” said Hobie’s Keeton Eoff.
