A low profile reel with a digital line counter integrated into the body that is easier to use and more accurate than mechanical line counters….and all for less than $100.
That’s the new package revealed by prestigious brand, Abu Garcia, in the form of the Max DLC (digital line counter) reel at last week’s ICAST Online trade show.
“These reels will be a welcome addition to the arsenal of those who love to troll,” said Andrew Wheeler, Marketing Director for the Pure Fishing brand. “We have incorporated a high level of accuracy and dependability in line counting into a true high-performance, low-profile reel to give these anglers the best tool for this demanding technique.”
The Max DLC has a number of other features to recommend it. It counts line as it is loaded onto the spool to provide the exact measure when spooling up. The pound test on the counter can also be adjusted for extra accuracy.
The back light display automatically comes on if there is a bite, a useful function in darkness or low-light conditions, and turns off after 20 seconds of inactivity. The light comes back on when the handle is turned.
A DTT (distance-to-tip) warning feature is also useful for infrequent or novice anglers, especially when fishing in the dark, warning them when their lure or bait is within six feet of the tip of the rod to avoid over-retrieving.
The reel comes in two sizes, the Max DLC and the more expensive, Max Toro DLC, both of which are available in right and left hand configurations.
