Halco Tackle, Australia’s most respected and leading lure manufacturer, turned in an award-winning performance at its country’s national fishing trade show last week.
The Fremantle-based company triumphed in the Best Hard Lure category with its all-new Skim Stick 185 and the Best Fishing Accessory for its Fishing Ring Pliers.
The Skim Stick 185 is described as being a totally unique and innovative concept for all blue water anglers.
A hybrid lure, it fits somewhere between a stick bait and skittering popper. It imitates a long, narrow profiled baitfish fleeing on the surface from any hungry predator.
Intended for long casting and slow trolling applications, the lure frantically skitters across the surface with a steady, but simple winding technique. The result, says Halco, is often a ‘phenomenal’ surface strike from mackerel, wahoo and many trevally species.
The lure features a very distinctive head design, is 185mm long and weighs in at 75gr. Halco has also incorporated its new clear polymer technology with internal holographics and scales in some colours, while other more traditional paint finishes are available in the range.
For the first time on a Halco lure, premium Japanese Decoy 5/0 inline single hooks come as standard to make the handling of active fish a far less risky proposition, while also giving superior hook setting and holding ability.
