Gliss gains sales momentum across North America

Gliss is gaining rapid momentum in the US and is available in some of the country’s biggest retail chains.

Ultra-fine fishing line Gliss is gaining rapid momentum in the US as it becomes available at some of the country’s biggest retail chains.

The monofilament, manufactured by German tackle company World Fishing Tackle (WFT), is soon to be available at Cabela’s, Field and Stream, Academy Sports + Outdoors and Gander Mountain.

In addition, distributors including Maurice Sporting Goods, Pitman Creek, Sportsman’s Supply and Nabatak are supplying Gliss to dealers nationwide.

Websites such as, and are also experiencing ‘tremendous sales’ of the line, which has caused worldwide interest due to its diameter-to-strength rating and braid-like qualities.

Mike Brooks, CEO of WFT’s American partner, Ardent, told Angling International that Gliss has been very well received.

Sales are being buoyed by strong reviews from top tournament anglers like BASS Elite Series pro Fred Roumbanis and FLW Tour competitor Clayton Batts. “Gliss will outcast any other line due to its super thin diameter and slick coating,” said Batts.

Gliss was launched in Europe less than 18 months ago and quickly sparked feverish interest. A deal has recently been agreed for Hong Guan Tackle to handle sales throughout South East Asia, while in Australia and New Zealand, where it is distributed by Jarvis Walker, sales have far exceeded expectations.
