Denver, Colorado-based Fishpond has won the 2018 FFI Conservation Award.

Fly fishing brand, Fishpond, has won a top award for its commitment to the environment.

The US company, maker of award winning fishing bags, vests and accessories,  has been awarded the Fly Fishers International (FFI) Conservation Award 2018, following in the footsteps of the likes of Patagonia.

Russell Miller, Director of Marketing at Fishpond, said: “We are humbled to be recognised by the FFI, which has been the voice of fly fishermen around the world since 1964, for our commitment to habitat and species protection and our 10-year dedication to recycled materials with our signature Cyclepond fabrics.”

Fishpond founder and CEO, John LeCoq and his equal partners, Ben and Will Kurtz, believe that what Fishpond stands for as a company is equally, if not more, important that the products it creates.

“Fishpond, which was founded 20 years ago, is excited and very proud to be the first fly fishing business to become a certified B Corporation. Together with 1,200 companies in 50 countries, we use the power of business to solve social and environmental problems.

“B Corporations are a diverse community with one goal – to redefine, success in business by making our world a better place to live in, not only for humans, but all species. This ultimately means that we are legally committed to working for environmental and social benefit, which goes beyond our financial performance as a company.

“Fishpond looks to the future with a goal of creating a positive difference for our planet by creating innovative products for the outdoor recreation consumer that communicates the importance of healthy species, water and habitat. It is as simple as that.”
