Australia’s premier angling magazine – Fishing World – celebrated its 50th anniversary this month with a special Collector’s Edition.
The 164-page issue was packed with special features taking readers back over a half a century with classic stories, photographs and memories of the sport and detailing how it has changed over the years. On the front was a Fishing World 50 Year Anniversary Halco Rooster Popper 80mm collector’s lure which was given away with each newsstand copy.
Editor Scott Thomas researched and coordinated the content from past and present contributors, working alongside other members of the Fishing World team.
Chris Yu, Publisher of Fishing World, told Angling International: “The reaction from our readers was overwhelmingly positive and we were also well supported from the trade with advertising. Fishing World has a very loyal and supportive advertising client base with many iconic brands having an ongoing relationships spanning from the late 1960s and 1970s.
“Despite the trending shift in the media landscape to social media and online content, there has been a recent resurgence in Fishing World magazine sales and audience reach which I hope will continue. The print magazine is the cornerstone of the Fishing World media brand that now includes an e-mag version, website, twice weekly e-newsletter and multiple-media platforms. As Australia’s only national recreational fishing monthly magazine, the outlook is positive.”
