Fishing Republic, the UK tackle chain acquired by JD Sports last year, has opened a new store that it hopes will get off to flying start as anglers flock back to the water following the COVID-19 lockdown.
The store is part of a brand new, 24,000 square-foot GO Outdoors megastore in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire. GO Outdoors, which has more than 60 outlets in the UK, is also owned by JD Sports.
“Following 10 years of continued support from the people of Stoke, we are delighted to offer our customers a refreshed and contemporary shopping experience,” said Paul Randles, Associate Director of GO Outdoors.
“We’re proud to see our new store come to life in the city and are looking forward to seeing our customers’ reaction.
“The decision to invest in the Stoke store was a simple one. We have over 70,000 loyal GO Outdoors discount cards members, along with a great team who have been delighting customers for years. I’m confident our customers will be just as thrilled as we are.”
The old GO Outdoors in the city has not been open since March. The new store will offer customers a collection and drop off point for parcels from Amazon and DPD. It is also currently offering customers 15% off everything until September 21.
GO Outdoors was placed into administration in June this year, but was immediately bought back by JD Sports in a move to restructure the business after its viability had been threatened by the impact of COVID-19.
