Shimano has spoken of its delight at picking up two awards at EFTTEX – including winning Best Fixed Spool Reel for the fifth year in a row.
The Shimano Aero Technium Msg continued the company’s proud record in reels at the show, while its Power Pro Super 8 Slick took the honours in the Best New Braided Line category.
Chris de Haan, Shimano’s Product Development Manager, said: “To win Best Fixed Spool Reel for five years running is certainly a big achievement and a reward for all the hard work Team Shimano has put into it.
“Again the Aero Technium Msg will capture the hearts of many anglers and will definitely be one of the most innovative reels Shimano will introduce this season.
“Using the latest technologies, our R&D team managed to develop an extremely light Big Pit reel without compromising on strength.
“The new X-Ship system, where Shimano redesigned the gears, makes it run much smoother, especially under heavy loads.
“The Super Slow Oscillation creates the best line lay ever. Can you imagine 100 rotor turns in only one oscillation? Shimano hopes many anglers will have the chance to see and fish with the reel and understand what the company is about.”
Commenting on Shimano’s win in the Braided Line Award, Niki Baars, Product Developer, said: “Team Shimano is honoured to win the EFTTEX award in a category where there was a lot of competition.
“It must mean that we created something special and it is a great result for our R&D team at our US factory and all our sales offices over the world.
“We are confident that anglers will appreciate this technically superior line.
“Its eight-carrier diamond construction, paired with the Power Pro enhanced body technology, makes it cast like a bullet. It is also as silent as an assassin and smooth as silk.”
