The man who introduced the Bait Weaver elastic dispenser to the market is returning to EFTTEX in Amsterdam with a new company and new products.

Martin McGowan, whose passion for providing simple solutions for anglers brought him to the trade’s attention last year with his first company Ullcatch, has set up Inova, a new company focused entirely on fishing tackle.

McGowan told Angling International: “At Ullcatch the priorities were varied, but with Inova, which I own myself, I can focus on fishing-related products. I already have some exciting new developments, which I can’t wait to show in Amsterdam.”

Inova has formed an alliance with Kudos and Futura, both based in China, which means it already has the production capabilities and sourcing expertise to bring McGowan’s concepts to market. McGowan met Kudos owner Gerrit Edelijn at China Fish this year and they quickly formed a strong bond. However, the chief working relationship will be between McGowan and Futura’s Sutte R.

Says McGowan: “Sutte has an engineering and production background. My expertise is in new ideas. This working relationship plays to both our strengths, and it’s already reaping rewards.”

McGowan revealed that there will be up to eight new products from Inova on show at EFTTEX, where he will share a stand with Kudos (D77). They include the Bait Binder, which is an improvement on the Bait Weaver. Says McGowan: “The Bait Weaver was well received last year, but feedback from anglers suggested they would like a transparent top so they could see how much elastic was left. We’ve incorporated that into the Bait Binder.”

Other introductions include a series of vibrating leads and luminous rig glue. McGowan is looking for distributors in Europe and also the USA, where the market for elastic is ‘huge’. “Thanks to my new association with Kudos and Futura, we can also offer OEM services,” he added.
