EFTTEX 2012: Blue Marlin ready to go global after sensational show

Blue Marlin, the manufacturer of ‘high quality, high value’ big game reels and rods, is planning a major drive to establish itself on the world stage after exceeding all expectations at its first ever EFTTEX.

Dealers worldwide are being put on red alert for Blue Marlin products after the company completed 50 back-to-back meetings in three days in Paris. Enquiries came from all the major European markets, the USA and Canada, Latin America, China plus North Africa and the Middle East. The company now plans to quickly turn as many of those negotiations as possible into new distribution deals.

Blue Marlin says: “Our first EFTTEX was so much better than we expected. We wanted to establish Blue Marlin in Europe but we had more than 50 meetings, and not only with buyers from major markets.

“There was interest from Iran, Israel, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Turkey, Lebanon, Egypt, Chile and many other non-European markets. We really didn’t expect that.

“We were surprised and delighted by the level of interest in our brand and we are hoping to turn these enquiries into real business as soon as we can. It’s the next step towards having our products recognised all over the world.”

Based in Hong Kong, Blue Marlin has been an established fishing brand on a local level for more than 50 years. After coming under new ownership three years ago, the company has set about creating stylish products and a stand-out brand that will appeal worldwide.

By manufacturing the products in its own factory, Blue Marlin is able to match the market leaders in its sector on quality but beat them on price – a strategy which clearly excited buyers at EFTTEX.

It says: “We expect to be most famous for our big game reels and ultra-flexible rods, but visitors seemed to like everything we showed. Our traveller kits, which include everything you need for a day trolling or deep sea fishing, drew a lot of attention, but so did our gaffs and lures. It’s impossible to say what products appealed most to buyers over the three days.

“We can’t praise EFTTEX enough. It was a fantastic show for us and we would recommend it to any first-time exhibitor.”
