The new CEO of EFTTA has welcomed the appointment of Niclas Herbst as Chair of the European Parliament Forum on Recreational Fisheries and Aquatic Environment (Recfish Forum).
Supported by both EFTTA and the European Anglers Alliance (EAA), the forum acts as an opportunity to improve contact and communication between European Parliament members and the region’s estimated 25 million anglers.
Herbst will chair the group for the next five years. EFTTA’s Olivier Portrat and EAA President Fred Bloot said: “We look forward to a very constructive partnership with Mr Herbst and to lively discussions in the Recfishing Forum.”
Herbst is the North Germany member of Parliament. He said: “Regular dialogue with anglers across Europe is important to my parliamentary work in the Fisheries Committee and beyond. I am convinced that the recreational fisheries sector can provide a distinct perspective on many issues that will be very high on the Parliament’s agenda.”
Herbst was elected to the European Parliament for the first time in July last year.
