New EFTTA CEO Olivier Portrat has issued a rallying call to the trade during the current Coronavirus pandemic.
He told Angling International: “As we are all together going through the turmoil of the current crisis, the sense of a ‘community’ is stronger than ever.
“The COVID-19 pandemic happened within a couple of weeks or so and it is hard to remember what the world looked like before.
“With that said, being an association member might not be one of your key priorities right now, especially if you do not know what the association can bring you. You might reformulate your plans if you are eager to rethink how you can develop your business or reach out to potential partners.
“The world is upside-down and you might wonder how the European Fishing Tackle Trade Association (EFTTA) can help you and your business.
“EFTTA’s objective is to promote the interests of the European fishing tackle trade and to make it more effective in the international marketplace. EFTTA works for, and hand-in-hand with, the angling industry. ‘Stronger together’ remains the pillar of the association.
“New members knocking at the door expect to expand their network. Loyal members renew their vows to stay close to the community and trust the association to help them to stay connected to their peers. The new generation, which is more visible online, bears in mind that the only place where they can learn is on the association’s online platforms.
“Uncertain times might come with challenges, complex situations or risky plans. Still, associations like EFTTA look at the bigger picture by coming even closer to the angling community – a group made up of those who have already placed their trust in the association and those who will certainly need support from those who can understand them best.
“EFTTA needs a numerous and broad membership base to secure and gain more political clout, which is essential to avert forceful and effective threats to the industry and recreational fishing. In Europe our industry has one powerful voice which counts and has done so for more than 40 years.
‘This voice is yours.”
