US fishing tackle manufacturer, Douglas Outdoors, has started shipping orders.
↑ Founder Jim Murphy has also announced plans for a rod factory in New York.

The much anticipated product launch from new tackle company Douglas Outdoors is underway. Shipping of the Douglas DXF and DHF fly rods began at the end of August.

The next wave of Douglas products, including the Argus and Nexus reels and the Douglas spinning and casting rods, will begin shipping in October.

Douglas Outdoors was formed earlier this year by the former Hardy North America President, Jim Murphy. The company’s development team includes leading composites engineer Tom Murphey and fly reel expert John Shaner.

The DXF range includes euro nymph, switch and double-handed rods in trout, salmon and salt models starting at $325, while the DHF range is positioned as a more accessible yet performance category line with models ranging from 3weight through to 8weight (12weight in saltwater).

The Argus, the company’s flagship reel, is a traditional click check, arbor model, made in New York State. The Nexus is a modern, sealed disc drag, saltwater reel that is super ultra-light and competitively priced.

Douglas is in the process of building a new rod factory in New York State and expects to bring its first US-made rods to market in 2015.
