Dennett Outdoor is looking forward to growing Shimano UK’s customer base after securing an exclusive agreement with the prestigious brand.

The wholesaler, based in Co. Tyrone, was announced as Shimano’s new agent in the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland on Monday.

Cousins, Mark and Aaron Gamble, who are co-directors of the business, take on responsibility for the sales and marketing of all Shimano products in those regions.

“We believe there is room to build the business,” said Mark. “There are some quality retailers out there who are not stocking Shimano at the moment, but who we believe will come on board.

“Shimano’s pricing structure is good and provides a level playing field for all retailers. There is also a broad price range of products now that will bring in people who are just starting fishing, or are on a tight budget, right through to the more professional anglers. It has  something to suit every pocket.

“We have sales people covering these regions day in, day out. They have already targeted a number of shops that they believe will commit to selling the Shimano range. We want to bring more customers on board, but only good ones.”

Timing, says Mark, played a key role in the deal. “We heard its previous agent may be retiring, so we made an inquiry. We are very pleased to have agreed a deal that should work well for both parties.”

Monday’s announcement from Shimano said Dennett would be ‘working closely’ with the Shimano UK team to give full support to the existing customer base with the aim of developing Shimano’s reach to many more anglers.

“It is fantastic to have such a well-established operation as a partner for these very important regions of our business,” said Ian Smith, Shimano UK Sales and Marketing Manager.

“I am confident that this appointment will lead to improved relations and communications with our customers and better distribution of the Shimano range.”

Shimano joins a host of other well-known brands in the 28-year-old company’s portfolio. The new operation starts on June 1st.
