Fishing restrictions were lifted completely this week in Croatia, allowing anglers to travel between neighbouring countries to practice their sport without government permission as long as they observe social distancing.
Tackle shops are also open for business as usual. During the lockdown many of them traded online, but despite that, many will have suffered significant losses, says local angling journalist, Bozo Povijac. “The crisis has only affected the retail side of the trade in Croatia as we have no major fishing tackle manufacturing to speak of.
“The restrictions imposed on imports, including from China, actually helped those businesses that produce lures at home.
“Generally there is a feeling that businesses are returning to normal in a positive way.”
